Construction Updates:
It is official. On April 28th the Chaparral office officially opened in the new Administration Building. We are happy to be moved and experience what it is like working in a building where you are either HOT or COLD but no in-between.

Building C (Life Skills, LRC, Business, Nova Net) will be ready before the end of school. Buildings D and E (English, Social Studies, and Math) will be ready beginning of June. The final building F (Science) will be ready late July. Of course, this is assuming there are no glitches between now and the end of July.

In June, the 200 building will be readied for demolition. When everyone returns in August, nothing but dirt will remain. The final projects to be completed are the new parking lot and tennis courts. Construction will be 100% complete in October of 2008. We have experienced several challenges during this process but the students have been great.

Dress Code:
Yes, we do have a dress code on campus. Please remind your children prior to their leaving in the morning to dress appropriately for school. No backless, strapless, shirts or dresses for girls and boys pants MUST cover their boxers. Thank you for all your help and support.

Graduation:
Yes, ready or not, graduation is almost upon us. Senior parent graduation meetings will be held on May 6th at 6:00 PM and May 7th at 5:00 PM in the library/media center. The purpose of these meetings is to inform parents of the upcoming senior events leading up to and including graduation. Mrs. Holland and I will be talking to seniors the week of May 14th to discuss the same information.
Additionally, representatives from CHAPTS will talk to the seniors about Project Graduation

Parking 2008 (first semester ONLY)
As we begin the 2008-2009 school year, parking will continue to be a challenge. As a result, ONLY SENIORS will be given the opportunity to purchase a parking permit. Once the new parking lot and tennis courts are complete, we will be able to open up additional parking spaces. Mr. Ross will be making an announcement on Firebird Word sometime during the next week informing next years’ senior as to how to get their names on the list of individuals wishing to purchase a parking permit for next year.

Thanks to CHAPTS, the new golf carts have provided the administration and security the mobility to monitor the perimeter of the campus during lunch. As you know, this is a closed campus and NO ONE is allowed to leave for lunch.

Sincerely,
Mary Lou Muccino, Principal
