Scheduling Counselor Meetings

School Code/Request for Official Transcripts
The Chaparral HS school code is 030-397. The code is utilized when submitting materials for scholarships, college admissions, when registering for college admission test with the NCAA clearinghouse. Request for official transcripts should be directed to www.docufide.com and not to counselors or the recorder.

PSAT Test Date
The PSAT/NMQST is scheduled for Saturday, October 16th in the Media Center. Registration for test begins at 7:30 AM in the Media Center and the test will begin at 8:00AM.
The PSAT/NMSQT measures skills important for college success and provides students with the tools they need to start planning for the future. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses the PSAT/NMSQT as an initial screen of entrants in its annual academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. Students are allowed to use a calculator for the PSAT.

Practice Test
Practice PSAT/SAT/PRA test (The PRA has elements of the SAT and ACT) are being offered to students on Saturday, September 11th, in the Media Center. The cost is $5/student payable in the bookstore beginning on August 16th 2010. Registration for test begins at 7:30 AM in the Media Center and the test will begin at 8:00AM. Students are allowed to use a calculator for the PSAT. Scores reports will be reviewed with students on the evening of Thursday, September 16th in Media Center in a short program that begins at 5:30 and ends at 7:00PM.
ASVAB Test
The ASVAB test is being offered to Junior/Senior students on Wednesday, September 22. The ASVAB is the most widely used multiple aptitude test battery in the world. Since its introduction in 1968, the ASVAB has been the subject of extensive research. Numerous validation studies indicate the ASVAB assesses academic ability and predicts success in a wide variety of occupations. In addition, several composite scores are formed from different combinations of ASVAB scores. Three composite or Career Exploration Scores are provided specifically to help students engage in career exploration. These scores help students get a good sense of their verbal, math and science and technical skills compared to other students in their grade level.
The ASVAB Test Areas include but are limited to: General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematical Knowledge, Electronic Knowledge and Mechanical Comprehension. In addition, ASVAB provides groupings of occupations based on similar skills sets interest, abilities and activities in 16 career areas including but not limited to Agriculture Foods and Natural Resources, Architecture and Construction, Arts, Audio/Visual Technology and Communications, Business Management, Education and Training, Finance, Government, Public Administration, Hospitality, Health Sciences, Hospitality and Tourism, Law, Public Safety and Security, Marketing and Science, Technology, Engineering and Logistics to name a few.
