College Visits

CHS is pleased to host several colleges for visits the week of 9/29 to 10/2. Students and parents are reminded to check with your counselor or the College and Career calendar from the CHS website. This is also an important source for updated scholarship information. Please check often as the information is "ever changing!"

Spend a year abroad in 2010-2011 as a youth exchange student

Juniors, sophomores and freshmen at Chaparral High School:
  • have you ever thought about living and studying abroad?
  • think it would be exciting to be a youth exchange student?
  • looking for a unique experience that will help prepare you for college?
Opportunities are available through Rotary Youth Exchange to study overseas during school year 2010-2011. Exchange students spend the year living in an overseas city with a host family and attending school there.
This is a chance to:
  • Travel and see the world
  • Experience another culture
  • Master a new language
  • Return home having had a life changing experience.
  • Be hosted by a local Rotary club of business and professionals
The countries available for youth exchange:
     Germany Taiwan Belgium Denmark
Netherlands Sweden Italy Argentina
Chile Brazil Brazil Switzerland

What do youth exchange students gain from the year?

What are the costs?
  • Medical and accident insurance
  • Costs of the passport and visa
  • Orientations for preparation
  • Round trip travel to the country
There are no charges for:
  • Room and Board
  • Tuition
Students will leave in August 2010 and return in June or July, 2011 after a year of study overseas.
  • Students will live with host families selected and interviewed by local Rotarians.
  • Rotarians will enroll the student in a local high school.
  • Rotary will provide about $100 in local currency each month for spending money.
